  Chapter 1

Rachel pulled out of Cliff's arms. She moved around quickly as she finished getting dressed. If she looked up at him, she knew she would burst into tears. As soon as she done, he reached out and turned her toward him.

  "Rachel," he said.

"You just fired him," she whispered trying to find her voice and calm her emotions.

"Yes," he said. "There are rules at my company. Sleeping with your secretary goes against them."

"She's your sister," she said, as she pulled back, sat down on the edge of the bed, and buried her face in her hands. "The girl I found in my bed with my husband is your sister."

Cliff walked forward and leaned down. He put his hands on her knees.

"This is to much. I can't believe this is happening. He was the only man I was ever with. Our divorce seemed to drag on forever. I thought I was finally free of him. You're the first man I have been with since him. It's not like me to sleep with someone on the first date. I swear that's not who I am. There was something about you. I know I just met you, but I really liked you. You made me feel better in one night than I have ever felt in my life. It was too good to be true. I should have known. Will he ever stop ruining my life? I gave up so much for him and his damn career. I gave up having a family. I lost everything. I gave him everything we built together just so I could be free of him. Look where that got me. The only man to make me feel anything ended up being his boss. The woman he was fucking ended up being the boss' sister."

  Rachel stood up.

"I thought he was the best man in the world. How could I have been so stupid? How could one night with you feel more amazing than anything I ever had with him? I wasted so many years of my life with a man I never should have been with."

Cliff took a step closer to her.

"I don't care who your ex is, Rachel," he said. "I had a great time with you. Please don't think I sleep with women on the first date either. That is not like me. There is something special about you. I've never done anything like that before. I am always careful who I spend time with. I know it sounds crazy, but I can't just let you walk out of my life without seeing where this can go."

"You really fired him?" she asked. "He's going to make my life hell if he finds out I told you about him and his secretary."

"My firing him had nothing to do with you. It had everything to do with him breaking my rules. It does have something to do with the fact that he did that with my sister. She's much younger than he is. I'm not a fan of cheating. I will definitely be talking to her. It would be in his best interest never to try and make your life hell again. I'm a very laid back man. I can also be very passionate when it comes to something or someone I care about."

"I need to get back to my room. I don't want my friends to worry about me. Thank you for everything last night. I would have never had that much with them."

"Go to dinner with me Friday night. That's all I ask. Give me one date. You can't let him run your life. It's your life to live."

"I need time to think," she said. "Please don't be upset with me. I went way out of my comfort zone yesterday. I just need to think about everything that's happened."

"I'm leaving in a few hours. Will you text me when you leave and when your plane lands?"

"I will," she said. "Only if you text me as well."

Rachel hugged Cliff and made her way back to her room.

Both of Rachel's friends were asleep in the clothes they wore the night before. She shook her head and laughed, thankful that she wasn't in the same position. Rachel showered and changed before going downstairs in search of lunch. She felt bad for the way she left things with Cliff. It wasn't his fault her ex was an asshole. She was eating a sandwich and watching people play slots in the casino when her phone buzzed.

Cliff: Getting ready to take off. Have a nice flight. I hope it's relaxing.

Rachel: Enjoy your flight. Text when you land.

She finished her lunch and sat down to play some slots. It wasn't as fun without him there. He really had made her first Vegas trip pretty amazing.

Her friends fired off questions one after the next as soon as she opened the door to her room. Rachel wasn't sure how much she wanted them to know. They were there for her divorce party. She wasn't in mood to bring up the subject of her ex. When they asked what Cliff did for a living, she just told them he was a lawyer. They were excited to find out that he lived in the same state and wanted to see her again. Leaving out all of the other details, she began asking them about their drunken night. Rachel knew it would get them off her back.

  Chapter 2

Rachel watched the hotels go by one at a time on the way to the airport. She knew she wanted to go back to Vegas one day. Next time, it would be for at least three days. One was not nearly enough. She had the best vacation of her life and was actually excited to begin her new life.

Rachel stood at the airport kiosk with a confused look on her face. One of the attendants walked over to her.

"Do you need some help?" the man asked.

"I'm trying to check us in," she answered, as she pointed to her friends. "Something's not right."

"What seems to be wrong?" he asked.

"It says we have first-class seats. I had our seats chosen before. We were in the back of the plane," she said.

The man looked around and clicked on different things on the screen.

"Everything looks right. The three of you are in first-class. The tickets were changed earlier today. I wouldn't question it if I were you. Just sit back and enjoy."

Jen and Tina were super excited to have first-class seats. They made it through security and found their gate. Rachel sat back with a coffee and closed her eyes. Cliff's text from earlier came into her thoughts. She sat up and went back to his text.

Cliff: Getting ready to take off. Have a nice flight. I hope it's relaxing.

"He bought the tickets," Rachel blurted out.

  "What? Who?" Jen asked.

"Cliff," she answered. "He sent a text earlier saying enjoy the flight. I hope it's relaxing. Shit! He upgraded our tickets."

"You better give him a thank you blow job when you see him again. Give him one for each of us as well. I can give him my own if you want me to. He was pretty damn hot," Tina said with a smirk.

"Don't even think about it. You know that shit's not funny," Rachel snapped.<

Tina laughed and stuck her tongue out. The three women sat around talking and waiting for their flight. Rachel had never been on a first-class flight before.

Just as she was getting comfortable in her rather large and comfortable plane seat, her phone buzzed with a text.

Cliff: Plane just landed. I'm so ready to get home in my comfy bed. Where are you?

Rachel: Glad your flight went well. I bet your sheets are waiting for you. Thank you so much. You have no idea how excited the three of us are right now. We're like three kids at Christmas. I've never flown first-class before. These seats are huge. Tina offered to thank you personally. I told her that wasn't necessary. You shouldn't have done that. I'm not the selfie kind of girl, but I did take one.

Cliff: I'm glad you're happy. Relax and enjoy. Take advantage of the drinks and food. I wanted you to be comfortable on the way back home, and I didn't want to pull you away from your friends. Tell Tina it's not necessary to thank me personally. I'm just happy you have them with you. Flying alone stinks. Who knows, maybe next time I have to leave I can take someone with me. Send me your selfie.

Rachel laughed when she read his text. She quickly messaged him the picture of her in her big chair.

Rachel: No drinks for me. We're getting ready to take off. Be careful on your way home.

Cliff: Cute picture. Text when you land.

Rachel turned her phone off, sat back, and relaxed the entire flight back. It made her feel so good that Cliff thought about her and her comfort on the flight.

  Chapter 3

Rachel waited to text him until she was home, changed, and in bed. She didn't want to wake him up in the middle of the night. It was around six o'clock in the morning when she finally sent the text.

Rachel: I didn't want to wake you up. I'm home and in bed. Were your sheets waiting for you? Thank you for the amazing flight. That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank you for thinking of me like that.

By the time he answered, she was half asleep and so happy she was on summer break from school. There was no way she would have been able to work feeling that tired.

Cliff: I think I was happier to see my sheets than they were to see me. I'm not a huge fan of hotel beds. You're welcome. It was no big deal. I truly hope that is not the sweetest thing anyone has done for you. I bet your sheets are feeling pretty good right about now too. I'm getting ready for work. I have some business to take care of at the office this morning.

Rachel: I would have never guessed after spending the evening with you that you owned a law firm. It's still unbelievable to me. Thank you for the dinner, the concert, and playing slots with me. I played some before I left, but it wasn't the same without you. Have a great day at work.

Cliff: I'll try. It's going to be an interesting morning.

Rachel: I'm sorry I told you about Jake. I didn't know you were his boss. I hope it won't cause you any trouble.

Cliff: It's not your fault. I'll be there while he cleans out his office along with a few of my security team. I have to reassign his cases. I'm not looking forward to the meeting with my sister. You didn't make their choices for them. Get some rest. I'll text you later.

Rachel slept for most of the day. She woke up feeling refreshed and excited about her new single life. After she jumped in the shower, she got dressed and pulled on some running shoes. She was ready to enjoy a long run alone.

When she got home, she grabbed a water and dried her face on a towel. When her phone rang, she was happy to see Cliff's number.

  "Hello," she answered.

"Hey there, sunshine," he said. "How was your sleep?"

"Great," she answered. "I've already been out for a run. Did your day go okay?"

They talked about Jake and how confused he was about getting fired. His cases were shifted around to other lawyers. Cliff said his sister was very surprised to find out Cliff knew about her and Jake. She wasn't the least bit surprised that she was also let go. They went on to talk about normal everyday things. Rachel heated up a frozen dinner while they continued talking. Before she knew it, two hours had gone by.

"I'm so sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to keep you on the phone that long. You must be tired. I bet you have a ton of stuff to do."

"I ate dinner while we talked. It's no big deal. I like talking to you," he said. "I'm picking you up at six on Friday. Is that okay?"

Rachel thought for a moment. She couldn't say no to him after missing him already.

  "That sounds good," she said.

"Dress casual," he said. "I just want to do something low key and normal. If you want to go someplace nice, we can."

"No," she said. "Something comfortable is fine with me. I don't want to do anything fancy. I just want to be somewhere quiet where I can get to know you better."

They hung up and she went on about normal life. The two of them text and talked on and off all week.

  Chapter 4

Rachel was looking forward to Friday night so she could see him. It seemed as if time was crawling by. She couldn't remember ever feeling so excited as she waited for their date. Her apartment was spotless and she had even started doing some crafts, hoping to pass time quickly.

Rachel had on jeans and a light sweater, as she waited for him to show up at her door. The butterflies in her stomach made her feel like she was back in high school. She couldn't wait to see the smiling face of the man that had her feeling things she hadn't felt in years. No man had ever made her feel as special as he did. She thought back to the surprise she felt when he paid for upgraded tickets for her and her friends. It wasn't about the money for her. It was the fact that he thought about her and did something sweet to show it.

She jumped when she heard the knock on the front door. A tiny squeal came out as she stood up from the couch to answer it. Rachel ran her hands down her sweater and patted her hair before swinging the door open. The feelings that ran through her body when she saw Cliff standing before her with a huge smile on his face had her feeling flush. She stood silent for a moment before snapping back to reality and moving aside for him to enter. He walked to her, took her face in his hands, and pulled her lips to his. When he kissed her, she felt like fireworks were exploding around them as heat filled her body. His kiss was soft and sweet, and she didn't want it to end. When he pulled back from her, she let out a light sigh. He offered her the small bouquet of flowers he had been holding, and she hurried to put them in water. Rachel knew they needed to leave before she made herself look a little to easy. The effect he had on her was something she couldn't control.

"I hope you don't mind a comfortable evening. I've been in meetings all week. The thought of jeans and a t-shirt sounded pretty good. You look amazing. I'm so happy to see you," he said.

"Jeans and a t-shirt look pretty great on you," she said with a smile.

There was a joking sound to her tone, but she meant what she said. He looked damn good in a suit, but there was no denying how hot he looked in jeans. The way his t-shirt clung to his body was so sexy. He looked so cute and huggable. She couldn't wait to wrap herself in his strong, warm arms.

Rachel hadn't noticed that she quit speaking when he pulled her back to reality.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked.

"Where are we going to dinner?" she asked with a smile.

  "Anywhere you want," he answered.

They ended up at a small family restaurant that wasn't too far from her apartment. She walked to a corner booth, and he sat down across from her.

"I know this place isn't very fancy, but their food is really good," she said.

They placed their order and fell straight into comfortable conversation. She liked that they could talk about anything and never have awkward silence. Rachel told him about the crafts she had started. Summer vacation had just begun, and she was looking forward to relaxing until school started up again. They talked about her students and how much fun teaching was. She taught first grade and loved every minute of it.
r />   "So you're off the entire summer?" he asked.

She nodded with a smile she knew spread across her entire face.

"I am," she said. "By the time it's over, I'll be missing those little faces and be ready to go back."

He talked about his week at work and the different meetings he had. She wasn't a fan of lawyers but knew that they weren't all the same. Jake didn't talk much about what he did. She found herself asking Cliff question after question. He was so easy to talk to, and he was open and willing to answer every one of them. That was another thing she liked about him. He explained things to her and didn't make her feel like she was less than him or like she wouldn't understand his world. The more he explained things, the more interested she became.

Before she knew it, they were finished eating. There was still so much she wanted to know about him and his life.

"Would you like to go to a movie or dancing?" he asked.

"Not really," she said. "I would rather go someplace and talk. If you want to go out, we can. What do you want to do? You're the one that's been working hard all week."

He smiled and shook his head.

"You're so different. I really like that about you," he said, as held the car door open for her to get in and closed it behind her.

She looked over and waited until his door was closed as well.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"It's nice to be around someone that treats me like an equal and doesn't have crazy expectations of me. You were fine with going out to a small, relaxed restaurant tonight. I can't explain it. You just asked what I wanted to do and took my feelings into consideration. You said I was the one working hard all week. You have no idea how good that feels to hear. Thank you for that."

"Are you saying the women you normally spend time with want the whole fancy date thing every night? Do they want you to shower them with gifts and treat them like a princess?" she asked in a silly, stuck up tone.
